Two days of high-octane high-speed auto racing at the Colorado Springs Airport brings out hundreds of the fastest, most powerful cars and exotics in the world
BIGGER, STRONGER, LOUDER, FASTER. 6,500 feet above sea level, two days, two runways and speeds exceeding 225 mph. Records will be broken, engines will be blown, idols will be immortalized and international fame will be achieved. This is how thousands of spectators, hundreds of drivers and dozens of sponsors and media outlets will describe what takes place at the 2016 OB Prestige Auto Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack at the Colorado Springs Airport. Once again, this event will go down in history as the largest event of its kind in the world.
For the third year running, Revvolution.com, Shift-S3ctor and the Colorado Springs Sports Corp are proud to announce the 2016 Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack Presented by OB Prestige Auto at the Colorado Springs Airport. In conjunction with the prestigious 100th Anniversary of The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Brought to you by Gran Turismo, Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack will kick off Pikes Peak Speedweek with dates set for Saturday and Sunday, June 18 & 19, 2016.
“We’ve had so much success being part of Pikes Peak Speedweek. Not only has the city of Colorado Springs and the airport embraced the event, but so has the Colorado community and businesses,” says Revvolution.com owner Ryan Randels. “Looking to increase exposure to the event and supporters, we decided to move Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack to the Saturday and Sunday preceding Speedweek. Saturday has always been huge. We hope to take advantage of that level of enthusiasm for both days.”
Airstrip Attack is a half-mile side-by-side roll race and trap speed competition featuring a selection of the fastest stock and modified street cars from across the world. In 2015, PPAA saw a 70% increase in spectator attendance from 3,250 in 2014 to 5,500 in 2015. Two hundred twenty drivers made the most participated event to date, with more than 20 sponsors and 35 media outlets supporting the event. Based purely on spectator numbers alone, PPAA was recognized as the largest half-mile event of its kind in history.
In 2016, more than seven thousand automotive and speed enthusiasts are expected to be in attendance as the industry’s top performance outfits, manufacturers, personalities and lifestyle organizations come together to participate, exhibit and support the event.
OB Prestige Auto has signed on as the official title sponsor for the entire 2016 Airstrip Attack season.
“The 2016 season is already slated to be the biggest year for Airstrip Attack yet. With the immense support from our title sponsor OB Prestige Auto, we’re making huge advancements in the event’s infrastructure so we can provide the best experience for all those involved.” says Shift-S3ctor co-founder Jason Huang. “We’re excited to show everybody what we have in store for 2016.
